Bluebirds Blow A Lead (Again!)

Cardiff
2 - 2
Sheffield Wednesday

Cardiff City Stadium

12/12/15

Attendance: 14,526

Referee:

Cardiff's Championship season continued with a two-two draw against Sheffield Wednesday at the Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday as a place in the play-off places was lost as was a two-goal lead.

A foul on Charlton loanee Tony Watt by Sheffield Wednesday 'keeper Keiren Westwood gave Craig Noone the chance from the penalty spot, which he took with Anthony Pilkington getting through from a Joe Ralls pass to go round Westwood and make it two for Cardiff before the break.

On the hour Sheffield Wednesday pulled one back when Fernando Forestieri scored with Wednesday completing the comeback in the final 15-minutes when Barry Bannan fired home.

Sheffield Wednesday had threatened when a goal-down as Lucas Joao hit the post but only a fine Westwood save from Watt, Kenwyne Jones seeing a header chalked off for offside and Pilkington missing from six-yards prevented it being three-nil, with those proving costly....

Still, the Bluebirds could have won it but Westwood again saved to deny Noone!

The other results were.

Friday 11th December 2015
Blackburn 1-0 Rotherham
Wolves 1-1 Nottm Forest

Saturday 12th December 2015
MK Dons 0-1 Ipswich
Cardiff 2-2 Sheff Wed
Charlton 0-0 Leeds
Derby 2-2 Brighton
Fulham 2-2 Brentford
Huddersfield 1-2 Bristol City
Hull 1-0- Bolton
Middlesbrough 0-0 Birmingham
Preston 1-0 Reading
QPR 0-0 Burnley

Looking at these results the stand out ones (as such) have to be the wins for Ipswich, Bristol City and Preston for me?

Ipswich winning one-nil at MK Dons saw the Tractor Boys into the play-off places and as much as that win wasn't a surprise in many way they did win it was another good win that sets them up nicely and saw Mick McCarthy celebrate his MotM win with a victory!

For only a second time away from Ashton Gate three-points were collected by Bristol City in a relegation battle with Huddersfield that the Robins came out two-one winners in.

Preston followed up the win at Burnley with another when managerless Reading continued to struggle (and dropped to 12th) at Deepdale with the Lilywhites victorious one-nil.
