Cardiff City Stadium

Attendance: 15,287

Cardiff's Championship season continued with a draw at the Cardiff City Stadium against Bristol City on Monday.

The attendance was up (by almost 2,000 on the one that saw Middlesbrough visit previously), however 15,287 is hardly a glowing endorsement of things for Cardiff is it with a nil-nil Severnside derby played out with Bristol City, who brought a vocal travelling crowd with them.

Bristol City had an early chance with Pack, as the visitors looked to impose themselves on this game, crossing into the veteran Wilbraham but his header was well saved by Marshall.

Another familiar pattern of this season for Cardiff is a lack of clear cut chances, often, carved out with the best of them in the first half for the Bluebirds seeing defender Connolly heading wide a Whittingham corner, with his set piece deliveries a consistent for us this season.

Marshall was needed again before half time with the Cardiff 'keeper needing to make a fine save as he turned over a Kodjia header from a Bennett cross as the half ended goalless, as the game itself would of course!

The greater threat continued to come from Bristol City in the second half, not that there was much quality in this, with Marshall called into action again. Freedman tested the Scottish international, with Marshall turning his effort from the edge of the box away.

When Marshall was beaten, with this by Kodjia, this goal was disallowed as the Bristol City striker offside.

Cardiff were also saved by the post with Bennett denied with the Bluebirds spurning a rare opportunity, which could have brought an unlikely win, with Ameobi's loan spell from Newcastle continuing in frustrating, if not disappointing, fashion when he snatched at a chance that he failed to even hit the target with from close range.

An incredible miss!

Hardly an example of a game that will be that likely to entice the dwindling Cardiff crowds back to the Cardiff City Stadium is it!
