Vital Report - Cardiff 1-0 Middlesbrough

1 - 0

Cardiff City Stadium

Attendance: 13,371

Cardiff's Championship season continued with a win at the Cardiff City Stadium against Middlesbrough on Tuesday.

It was left late, and it took a Friend own goal for this, but Cardiff made Middlesbrough pay for a failure to score for a third-match running with that own goal giving the Bluebirds a one-nil win!

This win, with a bit of luck of cause, was helped massively by a couple of fine Marshall saves in either half.

Cardiff had a good first half chance, well a couple really, with Noone making Middlesbrough 'keeper Konstantopoulos work, he saved a low drive from the Bluebirds winger well with Revell unable to hit the target with a chance he had as he headed a Whittingham cross over the bar.

Whittingham himself also had a chance, which was again kept out by Konstantopoulos in the Middlesbrough goal with the long serving Cardiff man causing problems with his fine delivery, as he often has over the year.

Middlesbrough's best chance of the half saw Adomah denied by Marshall at point blank range. The 'keeper made a fine save but from that range the Boro man shouldn't have given the Scottish international a chance with his header.

Another fine Marshall save was made in the second half, this one was a quality one, as Adomah turned provider for Leadbitter but the Cardiff 'keeper was at his best to keep out the former Sunderland man.

With a draw looking on Mason, from point blank range, saw his effort saved by Middlesbrough 'keeper Konstantopoulos but this then bounced in off Friend (86), with the Boro defender helpless to do anything about it.

It might have only been a second win in six-matches for Cardiff, with a number drawn, but this impressive win came in from of an attendance of just 13, 371, which is the lowest ever recorded for a league game at the Cardiff City Stadium....
