'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Stoke 2-1 Cardiff (Boss Comment)

Cardiff City manager Dave Jones was in circumspect mood after he watched his side's unbeaten run broken by a strong and battling Stoke City side. Jones was disappointed by what he saw:

"The run was always going to come to an end at some time but we didn`t play as well as we`re capable of.'

"We dealt with the majority of what they threw at us and we had chances but we didn`t reach the heights we are capable of. The tempo wasn`t as high as we would have liked and as much of the possession we had and kept the ball, we weren`t doing any serious damage to them.'

"Then we conceded an own goal, which was unfortunate, but the second goal was poor on our part. We`ve got to be a bit more clever when it comes to things like that and not be bullied out of the ball.'

'

Stoke City boss Tony Pulis was delighted with the three points and paid tribute to the Cardiff side predicting the Bluebirds will recover:

'We had enough chances to be comfortable, but we missed too many and made life difficult for ourselves. Cardiff kept going and the goal put them right back in it.'

'They are a good side and I'm sure they will recover from this. I regard them as one of our chief rivals for promotion.'
