Possible Lay-Off For Cardiff Rock RJ

Cardiff City may be be deprived of our of their in-form players if an injury to central defender Roger Johnson turns out to be serious.

Johnson fell awkwardly on his ankle after challenging for a high ball in Cardiff's 2-1 FA Cup win over Hereford. After lengthy treatment from physio Sean Connelly, Johnson returned and completed the match but was still feeling sore afterwards.

Johnson will undergo tests today to check out the problem. It could be nothing, but injuries like this can often involve damage to the ligaments - meaning a 2-3 week lay-off for Johnson.

RJ has been in superb form for Cardiff and established himself as a rock at the back as well as a potent threat at attacking set-pieces. His performances have been impressive and helped cover for an out-of-sorts Glenn Loovens in recent weeks.

If Johnson is forced to miss games, starting tomorrow with a home game against QPR, then we have a ready made replacement in captain Darren Purse, forced to watch from the bench recently. Purse is itching for a return and would hope to take his chance with both hands.

Hopefully Johnson will be fit to face QPR. His absence would be a blow expecially with Glenn Loovens just one yellow card away from a 2 match suspension.
