Cardiff Star Rockets Up Rankings!
Until recently, Cardiff City were underperforming and looking lethargic and laboured in possession. However, since a 4-1 home win (1-0 down at HT) against Colchester, The Bluebirds resurgence has been mightily impressive.
The quality and tempo of football has seen other teams gasping while West Brom and Watford were both lucky to snatch late points on their own turf.
Every player has raised their game over the last month, but one player in particular has been making a huge impact on the pitch, in a relatively unfamiliar role.
Paul Parry is a left footed winger, he played almost exclusively on the left until Joe Ledley forced his way into the side, an exit looked likely for Parry until he found form playing on the right, especially effective cutting in onto his favoured left.
Recently however, Parry has been playing in a move advanced position and has parnered Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink in attack. The move has paid off big-time for Jones, with Parry netting a winner against Sheffield United and a brace against West Brom. His pace has caused problems and defences have dropped deeper allowing McPhail and Ledley more room - the whole team has benefitted.
Parry's form has been recognised by a remarkable rise in the Actim rankings. Until recently he was rated around the 50th best player in the division, and was the only Cardiff player to feature in the top 100. After recent games however, Parry has rocketted up to be the FOURTH most important player in the Championship and 2nd best midfielder.
McPhail, Ledley and Roger Johnson have also pushed into the top 100 as Cardiff continue their ascent up the table - long may it continue!
