Cardiff's Jones: Going Nowhere

Cardiff City manager Dave Jones is on a 3 man shortlist to take over at Southampton if current boss George Burley leaves to take over National side Scotland.

Jones was previously boss at the Saints and may see unfinished business at the club after he was suspended over unfounded allegation, later thrown out of court.

Billy Davies, out of work since leaving Derby County, and Glenn Hoddle are others on the shortlist while former Fulham and Real Sociedad boss Chris Coleman is an outdise bet.

Cardiff warded off interest in Jones last year before West Brom appointed Tony Mowbray as boss and Ridsdale is jealously guarding his manager, under-fire just a few weeks ago, against potential suitors - telling the SW Echo:

'Our position is absolutely clear. We stuck by him when we were going through difficult times and we fully expect him to be Cardiff manager when Southampton appoint a new boss.'

'We are building something special at this club and both Dave and myself have a job to finish.'

Jones and his family are settled in South Wales, while the Liverpudlian also has stock in the club meaning that any voluntary move seems unlikely - certainly not to another club in a similar position to Cardiff City.

Funny how you wanted him sacked a few months ago! Football eh?
Matt_Us
Plenty still do want him sacked though...
bluebirdshroom
Ah, well is that because of the finances? How are Fowler and Hasselbaink doing?
Matt_Us
Finances are solid except for a court case, which is 'cast-iron'. Fowler is on crutches and out for the season. Hasselbaink is in-and-out of games, not bad but any slower he'd be going backwards!
bluebirdshroom
Right, so that was a gamble that went wrong!! Ah well the 4-1 win against us started your mini revival!
Matt_Us
Can't see him leaving.
