Cardiff City have brought in a new goalkeeper following the departure of Kasper Schmeichel back to Manchester City.
Peter Enckelman has joined on loan from Blackbur Rovers until the end of the season and, although initially back-up to Michael Oakes - he will have a decent chance of breaking into the first team and gaining some much needed time in competitive matches.
Enckelman is looking to kickstart his ailing carerr, which has been stagnating since a few notorious blunders saw him lose confidence and favour at Aston Villa. Enckelman told the South Wales Echo:
'Cardiff have given me the chance to kick-start my career. It can be frustrating sitting on the substitutes` bench. There were moments when I found it difficult to motivate myself when I knew I would not be in the matchday 16. Maybe I needed a new challenge - and that has been provided by Cardiff.'
'I am excited about this move. My whole focus right now is to earn the starting place for Cardiff and produce my best form.'
'This club seems on the brink of big things with the new stadium being built and the current unbeaten run.'
Enckelman will be given a chance in the FAW Premier cup, although the quarter final tie has now been postponed twice due to waterlogging at Welshpool's Maesydre pitch. Until then, Michael Oakes will be between the posts for resurgent Cardiff City. He looks safe though unspectacular although he has yet to let City down and did well in the 1-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday in his first game since Schmeichels' departure.
