Big Future For Cardiff Star Ramsey

Cardiff City youngster Aaron Ramsey is already the focus of much talk and excitement on the sidelines, but has hardly touched the ball in first team action for the Bluebirds.

He turned 17 on Boxing Day, and was immediately signed by the club on his first proffessional contract.

Ramsey was also given the nod in central midfield for the 3-1 FA Cup third round tie against Chasetown with Stephen McPhail suspended.

In that game, Ramsey showed fantastic composure and maturity in tough conditions where several of his team-mates struggled to adapt to the playing surface and style of the game. The youngster capped an impressive performance with a goal after timing a run to perfection and nodding home after a scramble.

Ramsey has already attracted interest from the Premiership, with Arsenal one of a number of clubs known to have watched him. However, he is being guarded from excess pressure for the moment and has not been thrown into league action.

He travels with the first team squad regularly, and has been named as a substitute on numerous occasions so far. He has shown he can stand up if called upon, and this Welsh youngster appears to have a very bright future indeed.

Ramsey is likely to play a part in tonights FAW cup game against Welshpool.

If Ridsdale and Jones REALLY want to see the City make a serious attempt to get into the Premiership in the next 2/3 seasons they MUST NOT sell LEDLEY or RAMSEY .. if they do we might as well pack up.

Agreed. The Gunter sale is acceptable so long as it allows Ramsey and Ledley to remain. To keep all three may have been ambitious, we can only afford to lose one.
