The home side took the lead early on with a superb low strike from Simon Whaley. The goal rocked City and Preston came immediately back down and Agyemang was denied by a good Schmeichel save.
Cardiff had plenty of possession, but no end product and Preston again had a good chance when Loovens slipped, Agyemang again fluffing his lines spectacularly when through.
The defence was looking weak, with McNaughton given a tough time and Loovens making mistakes. Matt Hill's overlapping run caught the City back-line too square, but the shot hit the side netting.
Preston could have been 2 or 3 up at half time but Cardiff solidified second half and began to creat chances. McPhail shot a warning by firing just wide and shortly afterwards, the equaliser came. Ledley's great ball was smashed home from another ROGER JOHNSON bullet header. Johnson seemed to power his way past everyone, including Hasselbaink, to get his head on the ball.
The Cardiff denfence still showed moments of weakness and a Loovens mistake allowed Paul Gallacher through. Schemichel smothered the shot, and Gavin Rae followed up with a superbly timed block.
The game was even more open, and Cardiff City took the lead after a strong and determined run from Welsh winger JOE LEDLEY. He stood tall whilst in full flow and managed to chip the ball over the advancing Lonergan and into the net.
An unbelievable refereeing decision saw Sean St Ledger booked for a cynical challenge on Gavin Rae. The Scotsman dispossessed St Ledger and was though on goal before being scythed down, a last man challenge and a definate red card.
Cardiff closed the game down efficiently and cantered towards the final whistle with no real moments of danger.
A good win, especially coming from a goal down. The first half was scrappy, with far too many defensive frailties on show. However, the second half was a joy to behold as we grabbed the game and dictated play. In the end, we deserved it and are really starting to climb up the table.
