Cardiff's Riccy Resumes Training

Cardiff City midfielder Riccardo Scimeca is set for a long awaited return to full training after sitting out the entire season to date.

It was last season when Scimeca first suffered a groin injury and he missed the end of the campaign. This season, Gavin Rae was brought in as an understudy but has been almost ever-present as Scimeca's injury kept him sidelined.

This season, Scimeca suffered a recurrance of a groin injury but returned to reserve team action in September only for the injury to flare up again. Scimeca then underwent an operation, after which he suffered an infection to the wound.

Now however, the former West Brom and Notts Forest man is ready for a return to training. We have certainly missed his steely phystical presence in midfield and he adds good strenth and options in the engine room - we have certainly struggled without him.

Hopefully Scimeca will return to his former best, but the 32 year old has been out for some time and will find it difficult to resume match fitness and stay clean of further injury.
