Cardiff City could be set to lose their on-loan goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel back to host club Manchester City in January.
The Danish shot-stopper, son of Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel, joined Cardiff this year on an initial one month emergency loan. That loan was extended until January with Joe Hart and Andreas Isaksson promoted above Kasper in the Manchester City squad.
Sven Goran Eriksson hinted that a season-long deal could be possible, with City eager to allow regular first team action to allow Schmeichel to continue his development.
Cardiff City's form has also benefitted from having a safe and consistent goalkeeper behind them and Kasper has pulled off some great saves, most notably a superb block against Leicester City.
Now though, Swedish goalkeeper Isaksson is unhappy with his bench role and is looking to move on in January to secure a starting position and maintain his place in the Sweden National side. Galatasaray are among the potential suitors but the move would likely mean that Kasper Schmeichel is recalled from his loan spell as back-up to Joe Hart.
We don't want to lose Kasper, and if he is recalled we must act swiftly to shore up that position. We have Michale Oakes and David Forde currently on the books but neither has proved their worth so far.
