Cardiff Lethargy Caused By Illness

Cardiff Lethargy Caused By Illness

Cardiff City captain Darren Purse has revealed the reason behind Cardiff City's woeful showing (see player ratings here) against Charlton Athletic.

The performance was simply awful with a lack of effort, enthusiasm and quality on show. It was widely described as the worst perfromance in recent history at home, and all the more remarkable coming on the back of an impressive mauling of Hull City.

Now club captain Darren Purse has blamed an illness for City's lacklustre showing. Speaking on his icons.com homepage Purse said:

I've not been too well with a bug that's been going around. A few are struggling with it already. We felt so lethargic with it against Charlton on Tuesday. it was hard to get going for the game, although that's not an excuse.

It's not an excuse, but then again it is and also points to the manager - surely not everyone is ill - why were those players not rested ?

Hopefully the players will all be recovered for the visit of Colchester United, if not they must be dropped. Supporters will not accept another showing like the Charlton debacle.
