Cardiff's Fowler Set For Return

Cardiff City striker Robbie Fowler is due to return to the matchday squad this weekend for the match against Hull City.

The former Liverpool marksman travelled to Germany for specialist work on a hip injury, the work was carried out over the International break so as to minimise his absence from the team, and Fowler is now back and training hard.

Fowler was given numerous injections as part of work to loosen his hip, a problem that has hampered his movement this season.

Cardiff manager Dave Jones told the SW Echo:

'The injections have been a success, but he`s feeling sore.'

'Robbie has been training to battle through it. He knows he has not been doing himself or the team justice.'

'The lad wants to play. He is desperate to get going again and hopefully that will be by next weekend.'

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink had a poor game against Leicester City. He was isolated in attack and wasted possession on a number of occasions to cap a frustrating evening for the former Chelsea star. Fowler could take the place of JFH, but a swap onto the bench for Steve MacLean seems the more likely option.
