'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Cardiff' DJ & New Fox Boss 'Friends'

Cardiff City face Leicester City tonight with the Foxes' having appointed a new manager at The Walker's Stadium.

Milan Mandaric is an outgoing Chairman, tough to please and publically vocal, his appointment of one of the game's characters could go either way for the Foxes'.

Ian Holloway, formerly of QPR and Plymouth Argyle, is described as eccentric, wacky and a good motivator - those are some of the nicer descriptions. He has certainly impressed at Plymouth, making them a force in the Championship with little financial support - a long distance from the days when Exeter City were the number one team in the South West.

I think Holloway suited Plymouth and the Pilgrims, in a quirky way. They are a relatively small club, and through sheer determination and effort - they are now a strong side at this level. However, they have lost players through lack of facilities & money - one example being Tony Capaldi who joined us for nothing over the summer, and the recent loss of Akos Buszaky to QPR.

Holloway is lovable, but can be irritating at the same time, he is certainly a character and brings colour to the game. He is beginning a new spell in his career and his second game will see him face Bluebirds' boss Dave Jones, who ironically may be at the end of his Cardiff City career if the game goes badly, the two are old friends. Dave Jones told the SW Echo:

'I am pleased for Ian on his move to Leicester, he is a good friend of mine, but when the time comes for kick-off all that goes out the window.'

"The fact that it is their first home game with a new manager could give them a lift, then again it could work against them. It is difficult to say because I don`t know the players he has got, what he has said or what he is doing.'

Cardiff City had scouts watching Leicester City overcome Bristol City 2-0 at the weekend and need something from the game to continue the momentum after the 1-0 win over Ipswich Town at the weekend.
