Cardiff's Ridsdale Subject To Abuse

Cardiff City chairman Peter Ridsdale has been the target of abuse from supposed Cardiff City fans after yesterday giving his backing to Dave Jones, despite poor team performances and a woeful league position.

The PR-friendly chairman has invited feedback in the past, and made his personal phone number and e-mail address available. He has responded to many e-mails to answer particular questions to which fans at other clubs have absolutely no knowledge.

Recently, Ridsdale offered his resignation to the CCFC board after receiving abusive text messages, and yesterday's move to back Jones has stimulated more of the same, in a more sinister nature.

The messages are aggressive and threatening and completely unwarranted. Fans have the right to voice concerns and make their feelings known but this behavious seems absolutely unacceptable.

Anger at Jones and Ridsdale is always likely with the team under-performing and the doubts over the legal case looming. However, some people need to remember just how fan we've come in recent times, and how little money compared to Lennie's losers Dave Jones has had.

Ridsdale took the messages well but must feel aggreived after the personal attacks. His achievements are impressive with the training complex, new stadium and several new signings attributable entirely to the former Leeds United boss. He told the Echo:

'My fellow directors have advised me to change my mobile number and e-mail address, but why should I?'

'I am Cardiff City chairman, but ultimately you, the fans, own your club.'

I doubt the senders of these messages are fans of the team, or care about the club. Their passions would be far better directed to supporting the team, but in all likelihood, they are the same 'fans' who have caused our poor reputation and act the 'boo-boys' at Ninian Park i.e. not true supporters, but idiots who like the aggro and opportunity to complain.

Ridsdale has informed the police of the content of some of the messages.

Typically, some fools drag everyone else down with them.

I think Peter Ridsdale has worked wonders for the City and certainly doesn't deserve the foul abuse of these mindless morons - the sort of stupid louts who season after season behave in a way which brings disgrace to our Club and makes us recognised nationally as hooligans to be policed into and out of away game grounds.

Definately more support for Ridsdale than Jones, but this decision seems to have turned many against him too - seems a little unfair

I hope for your sakes you still see him in the same light in a few years time!!
