Dave Jones: Unanimous Board Backing

Cardiff City manager Dave Jones has been given the full backing of the CCFC board after a meeting to discuss the future of the Bluebirds boss.

The board voted unanimously to give Jones more time to turn around the club's fortunes after a wretched run sees us outside the relegation zone only on goal difference.

Fans have been clamouring for the sacking of the once popular boss, and Peter Ridsdale sparked speculation by refusing to back Jones in public after a 3-0 humiliation by Charlton Athletic.

Dave Jones himself, the players and now the board are convinced that the former Wolves and Southampton FC boss is the right man to get us out of this mess.

Results will need to improve fast and Jones' position will still be under scrutiny for some time, he now has this one change to change things and get some points on the board - the decision is made, we need to get behind Jones and the players now.

An official statement from the club was published at 3pm today outlining the current situation and pledging unequivocal backing to Jones, Ridsdale hopes that the statement will calm the intense press speculation regarding Jones' position.

Dont they realise the speculation will continue until we are promoted or DJ gets sacked!

Thank goodness the Board have more sense than the previous poster whose negative, raving and mindless approach we can do without at a time when all true City fans should be getting behind the players who have had the loyalty to get behind the manager .. unfortunately some (other than Sam) will be looking for failure and waiting to celebrate it .. most of us will be doing our best to encourage success ..

You think the recent form is acceptable? You think it doesnt come down to the manager? You think the decision was based purely on the club's interests? No chance.

I give him 4 games to turn it around now - Board backing usually means 'his position was discussed and we want to see a change in fortunes and fast'...

5 games till Christmas, I reckon he'll be set a points target. 9 points and he's safe. Problem is, I can only see us getting two!
