'If It's Football, It's Vital'

'Pool See Off Cardiff (Boss Comment)

Cardiff City manager Dave Jones was satisfied by his team's endeavor and performance against a star-studded Liverpool side but was again left to rue the manner of conceding the goal.

Jones told BBC Sport:

'We've come to Anfield and given them a bit of a fright.'

'You're at your most vulnerable when you're in possession and unfortunately we lost the ball on the halfway line.'

'But of all the players for the ball to break to, who can do that damage, it had to fall to the player I consider the best in that position - Gerrard.'

"It was a great performance, and we showed a lot of commitment and endeavour."

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez revealed he intended to rest goal hero Steven Gerrard but was forced to include the England star by an illness to Sissioko, he also praised the visiting Bluebirds for their efforts:

'Cardiff worked very hard and were always dangerous, but then Steven got through to score a typical goal.'
