Liverpool Star Set For Cardiff Start
Liverpool's lanky striker Peter Crouch is targetting this week's match against Cardiff City as a chance to remind his manager Rafa Benitez what he's capable of.
The England forward has been out of favour at Anfield after the arrivals of Kuyt, Voronin and Fernando Torres. He remains a part of Benitez's plans and the striker wants a start to prove he can be the man to step up after Torres was injured in Sunday's 1-1 draw against Arsenal.
Crouch told the Liverpool Daily Post:
'I'm looking forward to the Cardiff game and hoping to get 90 minutes under my belt.'
'From my point of view I haven't had too many chances this season and so I have to take them when they come along.'
'The Cardiff game is obviously one we're expected to win but we can't take anything for granted.'
Liverpool are not likely to field a full strength line-up with the side remaining in all 4 competitions and facing a tough trip to Mark Hughes' Blackburn Rovers at the weekend. However, with fringe players like Crouch to call on, Championship strugglers Cardiff City certainly face a stiff test and will need to re-find some form.
