Cardiff Fans Vote For McPhail Chop

A recent poll on this Cardiff City website asked for opinions on under-fire midfielder Stephen McPhail and his role in the team.

McPhail is a cultured midfielder with a great passing game when on form. On his day he can dictate a game and control his side with a quick, incisive passing game that hurts opposition defences and creates chances.

However, McPhail seems to be struggling under pressure and has failed to impose himself on games, looking jaded and unable to secure quality possession.

Whilst his position has been challenged by fans, Dave Jones has stuck by his man and McPhail has played a part in every game when available. However, McPhail was ill for a recent game against Burnley, with Joe Ledley inspirational in central midfield allowing two of Parry, Sinclair and Whittingham on the flanks with genuine wide play.

Time To Drop McPhail ?

Yes. 69%
No. 21%
Undecided. 10%

A resounding yes answered the question and is looks time to give McPhail a rest and try something different in the engine room. McPhail has been under pressure to create chances and may also benefit from a spell on the sidelines - also giving others a chance.

Whether Dave Jones is likely to drop McPHail remains unknown, and, we would have to say unlikely - there is certainly a valid reasoning and support behind the move.
