Cardiff Star: Ambitious Goals Target

Cardiff City's energetic midfielder Gavin Rae has revealed a new target for himself as he looks to increase his goal tally this season.

Not normally renowned for scoring, Rae has looked dangerous on the ende of the area and shows a willingness to burst past his forwards and into the box - something we have lacked from the McPhails, Bolands etc with only Gary O'Neil who really played that role in recent seasons.

Ten games in, and Rae already has 2 league goals to his name (he also netted in the pre-season friendlies)against Sheffield United and Plymouth Argyle. If that form were to continue, Rae could expect about 9 goals from the season - a good return for a central midfielder.

Rae told the South Wales Echo:

'I'd love to hit double figures.'

'It's important the midfielders chip in over the season and help where we can in that area. Certainly, every player in midfield is capable of scoring.'

With Stephen McPhail goalless in over 50 league games now for Cardiff, we need someone to consistently chip in from midfield !!!
