Cardiff's Parry:Sure-Foot Redemption

Cardiff City's Welsh winger Paul Parry saved himself from a post-match postmortem bashing on Saturday courtesy of his winning strike in the second half.

Parry was subjected to a touchline ear-bashing from his unhappy manager Dave Jones after the Bluebirds conceeded another lead minutes into the second half when Ade Akinbiyi nodded an equaliser for Burnely FC.

Jones was unhappy with Parry for not closing down the Clarets Jordan on the Cardiff right - whose unopposed cross found Akinbiyi. Parry had left his man and was not in position to close down the cross and Dave Jones was remonstrating with the midfielder from the touchline.

However, Parry struck minutes later to win the game - an excellent effort from the edge of the box. Jones said after the game:

'I was going to throttle Paul Parry, good job he got his goal because he cost me the equaliser. He should have gone with the man and it is those lapses in concentration that we have to cut out. But then he has gone and scored a great goal so basically he has got away with it.'
