Cardiff Star Signs 2 Year Extension

Cardiff City starlet Joe Ledley has signed up to a new deal with the club, committing his future to the Bluebirds for 2 seasons beyond this one.

Ledley has been a key player for Cardiff over the last few seasons. Versatile, determined and an excellent footballer - he is instrumental to the side and has been enjoying excellent form so far this season -bagging his first goal in the 3-3 away draw at Sheffield United.

Leldye told the South Wales Echo:

'We are playing good football and I am enjoying my football immensely. That`s one of the reasons I will sign my new contract today.'

'This is my home club and I am happy playing here. And with the team we have right now there is every prospect of moving up to the Premiership.'

Ledley is a local boy who has risen through the academy ranks at Cardiff City, making himself a regular in John Toshack's Wales squads too. He has attracted interest from Arsenal and bids were rejected for the midfielder over the summer - thought to come from Birmingham City.

It's great to sign up our best young players on long deals - but difficult to forget the likes of Gabbidon and Chopra, both sold shortly after signing long term deals.
