Sheff Utd 3-3 Cardiff City (Report)

Cardiff City let yet another lead slip in the Championship - this time is was Sheffield United coming back from the dead to snatch a point. The game seemed as good as over going into the last 5 minutes with City 3-1 up, however, two late goals saw the Blades nick a point at the death.

A set-piece once again did for City as James Beattie opened the scoring, but Joe Ledley levelled after a Hasselbaink knock-down. Both Roger Johnson and Loovens threw themselves to block goalbound shots before Cardiff took the lead after a corner of their own. Big centre-back Chris Morgan was adjudged to have fouled Johnson, Robbie Fowler slotted away the penalty.

A good pass by Hasselbaink found Gavin Rae to fire home and give Cardiff a 3-1 lead. City looked to be cruising, with little pressure and Rae and Fowler seeing shots saved by Kenny. However, a long range effort from Armstrong set-up a tense final few minutes and with almost the last action of the game - another corner found Morgan to atone for his earlier error and head home for a share of the points.

Hugely disappointing for Cardiff, they should have been able to see out the game after doing well to get ahead in the game. Still unbeaten on the road, but draws don't get you anywhere and we sit in 15th place.

PRACTISE CORNERS !!! It cant be that difficult, time and time again this crazy marking system does for us.

Any defence that lets in 2 goals in the last 5 minutes - and has a history of letting in last minute goals - shouldn't really be paid because they're simply not doing the job they're paid for .. please can we have Purse back who at least LEADS as captain and is a no nonsense get-stuck-in defender .. if FOWLER and HASSELBAINK had realised our defensive rubbish they presumably wouldn't have bothered coming here .. bt I know it'll be the same dreary lot on Saturday .. haven't we got some kids we can give a chance too at the back?

For me its not the players, look to the coaching. Johnson and Loovens have performed really well - its this stupid zonal marking at set-pieces to blame. We stand still while the attackers have a run-up - it looks like schoolboy defending and its time to stop
