Cardiff Fans Believe In 'Oldies'

Cardiff City possess a number of strikers, each bringing a different quality to the team - however, doubts persist over the fitness of each striker and how many games, and goals, we can expect from them.

A poll on this Vital Cardiff City website invited readers to select the Bluebirds' striker most likely to top the club's scoring charts come the end of the season:

Fowler. 24%
Hasselbaink. 34%
MacLean. 5%
Thompson. 13%
A new player. 2%
Impossible to say. 22%

Predictable, a high percentage were unable to guess, its a fairly unpredictable statistic at the best of times without knowing how each player will be affected by form, suspensions and injuries.

However, Robbie Fowler and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink were the runaway poll leaders. Steve MacLean missed out due to an unfortunate ankle ligament injury sustained recently - he will miss the next 2 months.

Hasselbaink, despite being 3 years older than Fowler, gained 10% more of the vote. A re-assuring sign after a decent start made by the former Leeds United and Chelsea FC frontman. Fowler's backing took a jump this weekend after the former Liverpool FC favourite netted a typical brace - his first 2 goals for the club.

Re-assuring that although our veteran strikeforce are getting on a bit, and losing some pace - they can still score goals and after encouraging starts for both players- the fans believe in them.....
