Willo Flood Progress Report !

Willo Flood, Cardiff's tenascious midfielder was allowed out on loan to gain valuable first team experience. We spoke to Vital Dundee United fan Arab Jacques about Willo's input and performances to date:

A MIGHTY FLOOD HITS TANNADICE

It`s been an emotional couple of months for midfielder Willo Flood, since joining SPL side Dundee United on a year-long loan Cardiff City.

After the birth of his 1st son during the summer, 22-year-old Flood had the exciting opportunity of playing against the World famous Barcelona in a glamour friendly at Tannadice, in one of his first appearances in a Tangerine & Black jersey.

Ronaldinho, Zambrotta, Thuram, Deco, Xavi and Thierry Henry….…Willo Flood more than held his own against all of them - as Dundee United had a perfectly legitimate headed goal from captain Barry Robson chalked off and only lost to a late Thierry Henry penalty.

However, Flood`s introduction to the Scottish Premier League wasn`t as memorable - as the Dublin born midfielder was sent-off in the first league match of the season against Aberdeen at Tannadice for "simulation".

He was then sent-off again in his next match for Dundee United, being farcically red carded for taking a free-kick too quickly in a reserve match against Kilmarnock.

Fortunately, things have now settled down and Flood has started to concentrate on doing what he does best……playing football.

He was man-of-the-match in the 2-1 League Cup win over Ross County, with Dundee United manager Craig Levein describing him as a "really good, creative player" and the Scottish Media are starting to give him a lot of credit for his recent performances.

Flood hasn`t scored for Dundee United yet, but has created plenty of chances and been a significant part of United`s rise to 3rd place in the SPL table, after only 6 games played.

Dundee United manager Craig Levein certainly thinks very highly of Flood, always keen to pile on the praise at every opportunity.

"I`m confident he will do well for Dundee United. His style of play suits the SPL and will make him a firm favourite with our supporters. I see him as an important player for us this season," Levein told the Official Site.

Many thanks to Arab Jacques for the report and good to see Willo impressing in Scotland.
