Cardiff's Double Scotch Rescue

Cardiff City came back from behind for the second time in 2 games, this time to snatch a late point against Plymouth Aryle.

The last comeback, was courtesy of goals from midfielder Peter Whittingham and defender Roger Johnson. This time around, defensive midfielder Gavin Rae and striker Steve Thompson were the heroes.

Thompson and Rae, both Scottish ex-Rangers players, are not known for their goal-scoring prowess. Rae has scored 27 goals in over 200 appearances, the majority for first club Dundee. Thompson was transfer-listed at the end of last season, with his lack of goals (6 for the season) cited as the reason.

MacLean and Parry (the latter playing as a support striker) both netted against QPR but as far as strikers go, that is it for the Cardiff City forwards.

OK, we're in the early stages of the season but still have Feeney, Fowler, Hasselbaink all yet to get off the mark. The promising thing is that we are not now reliant solely on Chopra. The strikers have not been prolific by any means, but Whittingham, Rae and Johnson have all found the net to keep us in the games while the strikers are finding their feet.

Once Hasselbaink and Fowler are fully fit and settled, they will surely score goals. Add to that, the extra contributions from midfield and we have a much stronger feel to the team. With Thompson rearing to go from the bench, and MacLean desperate to return - we could be set for a fair haul of goals this season (maybe even one from McPhail!).
