Cardiff 's Super Stevie Thompson!

Steve Thompson seemed almost certain to leave Ninian Park during the summer. Blamed as one of the reasons for our demise last season for his lack of goals, Thommo was placed on the transfer list.

Cardiff missed out on his likely successor Chris Killen who opted for Celtic last minute. Thompson was nearing an exit to Preston North End, but suffered a hamstring injury after falling off an inflatable banana boat whilst on holiday.

The injury kept the Scotsman sidelined until this weekend when he was a suprise inclusion on the Cardiff bench. He certainly made his mark as he came off the bench to net a last minute equaliser and steal a point for the Bluebirds. It was a good finish, from a tight angle - certainly not the work of someone who hasnt played for months.

Thompson remains a popular figure with Cardiff City fans, his work-rate and determination are faultless. He is strong, physical and runs all day long. It was generally agreed that he was only lacking in goals.

After managing just 6 all last season, Thommo now has opened his account after just 7 minutes of action. He has forced himself above Jason Byrne and Matt Green, despite seemingly having no future at CCFC. Feeney is out on loan, so Thommo could still have a role to play this season. He looks determined, and I'd love to see him bang in a few more....

well done boys....terrible defending starting off, and we dont look like we can score....we only scored by tow mistakes made by pylmouth..we need to imporve our strikers

Its unfair to lay that on the strikers, our wingers have been ok - but when have they got to the by-line to cross? When have the central mids ran at the defence at pace and allowed strikers to peel off?
