Cardiff's Capaldi Expects Boos

Cardiff City`s Northern Irish defender Tony Capaldi is not expecting the red carpet treatment when he returns to Home Park this week to face his former club Plymouth Argyle. Capaldi left the South Coast club on a free transfer this summer, and despite being targeted by a host of Championship clubs, he moved to South Wales and has been an ever-present in league games so far - looking solid and tidy at left back.

Some Plymouth fans were disappointed that Capaldi had chosen to leave on a free, despite being a long serving player at the club. Other fans were unfazed by his departure and were not over-impressed by his no-frills, safe approach. Manager Ian Holloway wanted to keep him, but couldn`t match Cardiff`s ambition and financial package.

Capaldi is sure he made the right choice but is aware that the Plymouth fans may be targeting his comeback, he told the Plymouth Herald:

"No doubt from the crowd I expect I'll get a few boos here and there. I might get a few cheers as well, but I think it's going to be a mixed reaction."

"I felt it was time to move on. That's the way football goes - I just felt I needed a fresh challenge."

Capaldi missed Northern Ireland`s games with injury, but will be available for this weekend`s televised clash and will take his place at left-back looking for another win on the road for the Bluebirds.
