Cardiff City Hit By Stadium Delay

Cardiff City have learned that their new stadium proposal has been hit by a further delay to frustrate fans further and ensure that the Bluebirds will not play at their new gfround as soon as had been expected.

The stadium plan has been frought with problems and delays ever since it was first proposed but the scheme has progressed rapidly under the stewardship of Peter Ridsdale.

Issues beyond the clubs control have affected the progress with the recent bad weather holdingh up the construction of the new athletics track while a legal proceeding, issued against the club by the Langston corporation has also hindered the financial dealings behind the scheme.

The club has hoped to occupy the new stadium halfway through the 2008/09 season. Howver, those plans are now appearing too optimistic and chairman Peter Ridsdale has now confirmed that the club now expects to move in before the start of the 2009 season.

This could be a blessing in disguise in that moving to a new stadium mid-season could affect momentum and form while excitement and expectation levels will be ahead of a new season, in a new ground.
