Cardiff vs Coventry -manager comment

Cardiff City manager Dave Jones was understandably frustrated after seeing his side outplay, but lose to an average looking Coventry side. Jones pinpointed the lack of finishing as key after his side missed a host of chances, Steve MacLean guilty for several.

Jones told BBC Wales after the game:

'We had gilt-edge chances that we should have put away.'

'I can't even say that they defended and threw their bodies on the line, we just missed the chances.'

'We had our get-out-of-jail card, which we shouldn't have needed, and we miss it.'

Jones defended his strategy and his decison to omit strikers Hasselbaink and Fowler:

'You've just got to keep believing, it's the right way to play.'

'They could've both sat on the bench today, but it was important for them to finish the programme.'

Coventry City manager Iain Dowie admitted his side were lucky to be ahgead at the break:

'Cardiff are a good side and this is a tough place to come. We were living on the seat of our pants in the first half.'

'We got away with that and the penalty right at the end and it is a really good win for us.'
