Cardiff Fans Back Hasselbaink Move

Cardiff City fans appear behind the signing of former Chelsea FC and Leeds United striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, according to a Vital Cardiff City poll.

We invited readers to vote as to the signing of JFH. There had been mixed reports in the media, mostly centering on the player's age (35).

The results were largely behind the move:

Top Signing. 54%
Decent Signing. 23%
Not Impressed. 8%
Terrible Signing. 9%
Reserving Judgement 6%

A cumulative 77% thought it to be a good move, with 17% of the opposite view.

We definately needed someone of that mould. A powerful striker who can bring others into the game and hold the ball up effectively.

We waited patiently to find the right player, at the right price but moved to sign Hasselbaink after his move to Leicester City broke down. Peter Ridsdale already knows the player, and, even though their relationship was troubled in the past, Ridsdale was instrumental in bringing the Dutchman to Ninian Park.

Fowler, Hasselbaink and MacLean will all be after an absoolute minumum of 10 goals this season. Each of them is capable of reaching the 20 goal mark if they can get enough games and the added depth and competition can only be good news for Cardiff City.
