Cardiff Captain Praises 'Old Heads'

Cardiff City captain Darren Purse believes this year's squad is stronger and has singled out two signings in particular as important for the club.

Purse was one of few experienced pros in the side last year. Veteran Ex-Arsenal and West Brom man Kevin Campbell was a good leader in the dressing room but rarely featured on the pitch.

This year, the youngsters at the club will have other role-models and experienced players to turn to for guidance and advice. The most notable of these are former West Ham and Manchester City winger Trevor Sinclair and Liverpool FC legend Robbie Fowler, 34 and 32 years old respectively.

Speaking on his icons.com homepage, Purse spoke of the added experience in the squad:

'The experience the gaffer has brought in will help no-end. The likes of Trevor Sinclair and Robbie Fowler have got loads of experience - World Cup, Champions League, Premiership... You name it, they've done it. They are two great signings for us.'

Purse singled the two old heads out as important signings and maintained that both retain the hunger and desire to succeed. He also mentioned that there is no 'big star mentality' and that the two former England Internationals are 'just like the other lads'.
