Cardiff Fans Pick Suprise Top-Scorer

Cardiff Fans Pick Suprise Top-Scorer

Cardiff City have lost their top asset and last year's prolific scorer Michael Chopra to Sunderland.

Towards the end of last season, they brought in Jason Byrne, Warren Feeney and Matt Green and have strengthened their striker department with the free transfer acquisitions of Robbie Fowler and Steve MacLean during the close season.

A recent poll on theis Vital Cardiff City website, invited readers to choose which of our strikers they thought would be the top scorer for the Bluebirds this season:

Robbie Fowler 33%
Steve MacLean 42%
Jason Byrne 1%
Warren Feeney 3%
Matt Green 3%
A.N. Other 18%

Steve MacLean, signed from Sheffield Wednesday is the clear favourite to top our scoring charts this season. He has looked sharp during pre-season and put away his chances well.

Robbie Fowler also scored highly, he is a proven finisher with a natural eye for goal. Whether his coming second is a lack of faith in his pace or ability as he gets older or merely because he will not play as many games.

Cardiff are also bringing in another striker as soon as they can identify an affordable 'big number 9' and fans suggest that he may also fire a few goals as opposed to Byrne, Feeney and Green - all of whom should brace themselves for a bit-part this season.

The results suggest that will can hopefully rely on goals from a number of areas rather than just one man (Chopra). This should stand us in better stead this time around.

Video - Cardiff 2-2 Fulham

Having come from a goal down to lead Cardiff were denied a fourth straight win by Fulham in a 2-2 draw. A Bluebirds victory would have seen us close in on a top 10 place.

Vital View - Championship, 24th-26th February 2017

Brighton winning and Newcastle drawing saw Albion return to the top of the table. Huddersfield couldn't close the gap though. Wigan, Blackburn & Rotherham are still the bottom three.
