Wolves To Lift Ban On Cardiff Fans

Wolverhampton Wanderers have lifted the controversial ban on Cardiff City supporters which prevented any of our following form attending last year's 2-1 victory at Molineux.

The ban was imposed for safety reasons after minor disturbances in previous games between the two clubs. Fans of Cardiff City were understandably disappointed with the decision and mounted a peaceful demonstration on the day of the game - supported by fans of other clubs and the fans federation.

Now, the decision is to be reversed for this season's encounter although special restraints may be put in place.

Burnley FC and Stockport County have recently publically thanked our supporters for respecting and participating in emotional days for their clubs although media coverage on these incidences is virtually non-existant.

Cardiff City and its fans are working hard to shake off the 'hooligan' tag it once had. There is plenty more work to do, but we are making progress.

Sergeant Wayne Palmer, Cardiff football intelligence officer told the SW Echo:

"We will sit down with Wolverhampton Football Club after Christmas and discuss the practices they want to put in place but we are not looking at fans being banned from the game."
