New Contract For Cardiff City Star

Cardiff City chairman Peter Ridsdale today revelaed that the club are set to open talks with versatile midfielder Joe Ledley over his Cardiff City future.

The Welsh International was ever-present for Cardiff City last year and perfromed solidly in a variety of positions. He is out of contract at the end of this season and the club will strive to ensure he ties his future to the club soon.

Ridsdale told the Western Mail:

'We`re sitting down with Joe Ledley and his representatives this week about agreeing a new contract to keep him at Cardiff. Joe is exactly the type of young player who are the future of this club.'

"Joe wants to stay at Cardiff, we want him here, so I`m not foreseeing any problems when it comes to a new contract."

Ledley attracted some interest during the close season, in particular from Birmingham City. His excellent fitness and work rate are impressive and he is clearly a talented youngster who has risen through the ranks at Cardiff City and formed an integral part of their current and future team.

Far and away the very best news of the last few weeks ... Ledley [and Gunter and Ramsey and Blake] are the players who would keep us in the Premiership if Fowler and the other old(er) lags help get us there.
