Cardiff Return For Mark Delaney ?

Cardiff City are being linked with a former fans favourite Mark Delaney whose Aston Villa future is in doubt.

Delaney was brought to the club in the summer of 1998 by Frank Burrows from Carmarthen Town. In under a year, he was snapped up by Aston Villa who paid a hefty £250k for his services although Delaney had looked superb for Cardiff and some fans thought a larger fee was warranted.

Rumours have surfaces recently of a possible return to Cardiff City for the Welsh International. He has struggled with injuries recently and missed the entire 2006-07 season with a knee injury.

However, when inury free, Delaney is a great player. He has pace, good control and an excellent pass and one of Wales' most impressive players in recent years. Primarily a full back, he has done a sterling job at centre-back for both club and country.

The door was left open for Villa fans favourite Delaney to prove his fitness, however, the arrival of Martin O'Neill has poured further doubt over his future and he could be set to leave the club.

Whether a Cardiff return is likely, we have little idea at this stage. He is a model proffessional and could join the likes of Sinclair and Fowler as seasoned Premiership pros in the Bluebirds ranks.
