Cardiff City Penalty Taker ?

Cardiff City have a wealth of options to take any spot-kicks they may get next season.

Captain Darren Purse has been taking penalties since he arrived at the club and has done well, his technique (reminiscent of Paul Miller) of shooting home with power rather than precision has paid dividends.

Purse shared the duties with Michael Chopra last season, neither of whom missed and whilst Chops has now left - Purse cannot be sure of keeping the responsibility.

Robbie Fowler is obviously a prime candidate for the job. He is a natural finisher and has a good record in taking spot-kicks. The experienced pro has taken a good number of penalties - scoring the vast majority - and is unlikely to be affected by pressure.

In addition, fellow new-boy Steve MacLean has a reputation as somewhat of a 'spot-kick specialist' - he was a hero at Sheffield Wednesday and in fact - never missed a penalty for the Owls despite taking every penalty he was on the field for.

All three of the above candidates are known to be somewhat injury-prone - hopefully at least one is on the field to take any penaltiess we may be awarded this season.
