Purse Wants New 'Dirty' Cardiff

Cardiff City captain Darren Purse last week signed a long awaited extension to his Bluebirds extension and has revealed his eager anticipation of the new season.

Speaking on his icons.com official webpage, Purse spoke of the ambition of the club and his high hopes for the future:

'I do feel I'm at a club that is ambitious and exciting things are happening here. We are buliding for a bright future and I'm happy to be a part of that.'

Purse also spoke of his hopes for next season and believes City need to push on but also become a more aggressive and punishing side to play:

'We need to be a dirty side sometimes. I don't mean violent or cheating, but just not always pretty.'

Purse wants his team to grind out more 1-0 wins and sustain the form they showed last season, likening the style to that of his former club Birmingham City - who achieved promotion last year.

Purse, along with Glenn Loovens and Roger Johnson will form a strong looking centre-back unit for Cardiff City next season and all three will be relishing the competition for the 2 starting berths.
