Cardiff City`s bid to land former England Ace and Liverpool favourite Robbie Fowler is interesting the player, with a decision expected in the next week. The Bluebirds have intensified their chase after losing star striker Michael Chopra to Sunderland yesterday.
Although no fee is payable for the striker, Fowler`s wage demands would be huge for Cardiff City. A sponsorship package has been agreed and put forward to the player`s agent - which Fowler is taking seriously:
"I`ve spoken to Peter Ridsdale and a firm offer, including figures and the like, is on the table," George Scott (Fowler's agent) told the South Wales Echo.
'I think I`m right in saying helping a Championship club up to the Premiership with some goals is a challenge that does greatly interest Robbie.'
However, competition for a proven goalscorer is intense with a Premiership side maintaining an interest as well as Leicester City in the Championship. In addition, Fowler has received offers from USA and Australia, including Sydney FC which would be more lucratively attractive:
"Saying that, we`ve got a couple of offers from overseas which could provide a nice lifestyle for Robbie and his family."
Whilst the pursuit of Fowler seems likely to end in defeat, Cardiff do hold a realistic chance of landing a very good player. It`s great to see Ridsdale and Jones working hard to attract quality players and making Cardiff an attractive club to join.
