Cardiff Squad Review: MM & NM

After an up-and-down season, Cardiff City finished comfortably mid-table. A scintillating start was followed by a dismal end and the same players looked half as effective as previously.

VitalCardiff brings you an end of season review of each player. If you disagree then feel free to leave a comment at the foot of this article or e-mail Vital Bluebirds with an alternative review!!

The reviews will be published every weekday between 10-11am:

23 Margetson

Martyn Margetson was released by the club at the end of the 2005-06 season but rejoined the club as a third choice goalkeeper and also as a coach.

After an impressive career, Martyn decided a move into coaching would suit him and he filled a gap created by George Wood`s (long-serving goalkeeping coach) departure.

Despite Mark Howard`s failings - Margetson was never called upon for first team action as the number 1 Neil Alexander remained injury and suspension free until dropped amid contract disputes and replaced by newcomer David Forde.

24 Nick McKoy

McKoy arrived from MK Dons with a reputation as an aggressive midfield enforcer with good strength, stamina and tackling. Whilst his team-mate and colleague Malvin Kamara broke into the first team - McKoy never got a look in. He made 1 appearance in the Carling Cup but was not considered when City were struggling for midfield competition. Riccy Scimeca`s injury hurt Cardiff badly, and in McKoy had a similar replacement. However, he was thought not to have enough quality and was released at the end of the season.

McKoy spent 4 months on loan at Torquay United, making only 5 appearances.
