Cardiff Squad Present And Correct

The Cardiff City squad has now returned to training and are joined by the three new recruits thus far in Tony Capaldi, Steven MacLean and Gavin Rae. The three new additions have met their new team-mates and will look to gel and familiarise themselves with Cardiff's style of play.


Fitness coach Alex Armstrong devised individual training routines for each player over the summer and they all underwent fitness tests at the close of last season. Re-tests were ongoing today to ensure that each player is fit and ready for the new season.


One player not present is former Aston Villa winger Peter Whittingham, he has been given an extended leave by Dave Jones after competing in the EURO U21 Championships over the summer.



There is a week to go until the first match of pre-season when Dave Jones will again split his squad in half to play two friendlies simultaneously against Merthy Tydfil and Carmarthen Town.


We have to expect another addition to the squad before then with a keeper of primary importance. A right winger will also be needed before the Championship season starts.
