After an up-and-down season, Cardiff City finished comfortably mid-table. A scintillating start was followed by a dismal end and the same players looked half as effective as previously.
VitalCardiff brings you an end of season review of each player. If you disagree then feel free to leave a comment at the foot of this article or e-mail Vital Bluebirds with an alternative review!!
The reviews will be published every weekday between 10-11am:
18 LUIGI GLOMBARD
Luigi Glombard joined before the season started and as a back-up to Michael Chopra. Little was known about the player other than his being a small and pacy striker.
Glombard was not called upon in the early part of the season, but was frequently selected on the bench. His chance came after 2 substitute appearances when Michael Chopra picked up a 1 match ban. Glombard started the away game at Norwich in October but was hauled off at half time after a dismal showing where he failed to get into the game.
With no other strikers, Paul Parry was pushed forward to partner Steve Thompson and the writing was on the wall for Glombard. Three more substitutes appearances came, one on the wing where he looked lively and a threat but the Frenchman was soon released to join Leicester City on loan. Glombard only racked up 1 subs appearance for the Foxes but was praised for his attitude.
A loan spell in Oldham then materialised with Glombard scoring once in three starts for the Latics.
Glombard was released by Cardiff City after one largely unhappy season at Ninian Park.
