Cardiff City Chairman Peter Ridsdale has revealed the proposed 'groundshare' arrangement between Cardiff City FC and Cardiff Blues RFC is getting ever closer and that 'heads of terms' have been agreed.
Speaking to the Western Mail, Ridsdale confirmed:
'I believe that (the heads of terms agreement) will be turned into a full agreement in the very near future.'
'I think it`s something every Cardiff City fan should welcome because obviously it gives an income stream regularly.'
'The future`s really bright.'
Ridsdale has supported the venture from the start and championed the plans. It seems crucial to the stadium project in many aspects and, given the full ownership of the stadium by the Bluebirds (the Blues will rent), should provide a decent source of revenue for the club.
Money invested has risen on the project, with £5m earmarked for transfers having to be ploughed into the development. However, the capacity has decreased from 30,00 and now seems to be nearer the 25,000 (all-seater) mark.
Nevertheless it is a big stride forward and Cardiff City have planning permission to enlarge the stadium (up to 60,000) if necessary.
Supporters have been against the shared stadium since its discussion: if you have a view - leave a comment or e-mail >Vital Bluebirds.
