Cardiff: Ridsdale Regular Rejections

Cardiff City Chairman Peter Ridsdale has moved to rule out the signing of another player, this time free agent Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

It must be frustrating for Ridsdale to persistently be asked about players and it seems he prefers to rubbish reports rather than risk a 'no comment' being taken the wrong way.

'Reports linking us to Jimmy Floyd are total nonsense, anyone who is aware of the history between us would certainly rule that out as a non-starter.'

The comments have come on the back of Ridsdale dismissing links with other players including Hull City's Jon Parkin which Ridsdale mocked as 'silly season nonsense'.

'Don't believe anything you read - the silly season has started where every player is being linked with almost every club'

Cardiff City have become a club reluctant to discuss transfers until the ink is dry on the contract. Players like Chris Killen have used the club to gain profile and attract other suitors but Ridsdale's happiness to deny rumours must mean that 'no comments' in the future can be taken as more of a hint as to Bluebirds interest.

Of course, speculation could be better put to bed, by the signings of other players !
