Cardiff Captain Agrees New Deal

Cardiff City centre-back and captain Darren Purse has agreed terms on a contract extension to keep him at Ninian Park. The former Birmingham and West Brom stopper had just a year remaining on his current deal and was attracting interest from Premiership and Championship clubs.

Purse maintained his desire to remain a Bluebirds and spoke openly about his hopes of a new deal. Following 2 weeks of contract negotiations, Purse has agreed terms and is now set to sign a deal keeping him at Cardiff City for at least 2 more seasons.

Cardiff City Chairman Peter Ridsdale confirmed the talks:

'A new contract has been agreed by all for Darren, and all that's left is for him to sign it.'

The result keeps an experienced player at the club and leaves Cardiff City with an impressive centre-back unit along with Roger Johnson and Glenn Loovens.
