Cardiff New Training Ground 'No Go'
The state-of-the-art 40-acre development plan was to cost £10m and include six international sized training pitches as well as a special all weather surface. The facilities were to be shared with Welsh international sides and Cardiff Blues rugby club and provide world class facilities after securing external funding from football bodies FIFA and UEFA.
However, the plans for the ground at the Vale of Glamorgan Hotel, have been scuppered in a move that will clearly upset Cardiff City manager Dave Jones who has been vocal in his criticism at the clubs lack of facilities.
Chairman Peter Ridsdale recently expressed his dismay at the progress being made on the project and hinted that the Bluebirds were considering going it alone and building their own training complex.
Dave Jones' comments back in January were of delight at the project:
'This is a momentous day for us. We will go from having no proper training facilities to enjoying facilities of the very highest level.'
Obviously that is now gone and we may be hearing Dave Jones' moans on this subject in the not too distant future.
