Cardiff City Granted Terrace License

Cardiff City FC has received the license needed for the club to utilise the standing areas of Ninian Prk next season and become the first club to be awarded the license for more than the original 3 years.

The Bluebirds have gone 'unconditional' on plans for a new stadium meaning that Ninian Park will be not be their home for much longer and to install seating would be un-economical.

Club chairman Peter Ridsdale made this statement on the offical site:

'We are delighted to have secured the extension for standing. This will now allow us to concentrate on the new stadium and the playing side. If the decision had not gone in our favour, it would have had major financial implications, both in terms of new seat installation and the reduction in our overall capacity.'

Excellent news then for CCFC and Ninian Park will remain a traditional if a little worn stadium. Many fans love to use the terracing and large section would have been wasted if the ruling had not been granted.

Ridsdale also thanked Culture minister Tessa Jowell personally for her assistance in acquiring the license.

Only clubs who are wanting to move to a new stadium need to apply for this licence. Grounds were made all seater for a reason.
