'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Cardiff Chairman:'Silly Season Open'

Cardiff City supremo Peter Ridsdale had little time to discuss the rumoured exit of Bluebirds captain Darren Purse and dismissed the news of a possible bid from Wigan Athletic.

The Latics were thought to be lining up a £1.2m deal to bring Purse to the JJB Stadium and replace experienced centre-back Arjan De Zeeuw. The former Porstmouth FC favourite was recently released by the club and it was thought that new manager Chris Hutchings was considering a move for Purse.

Purse has 1 year left on his current deal, but has already mentioned his disappointment he has not opening talks regarding an extension. The South Wales Echo reports today that Purse has admitted he may be leaving but the quotes were made over a month ago, before any interest from Wigan Athletic.

As yet, Purse has not spoken of the interest but Peter Ridsdale did not seem to be taking the interest seriously;

'Don`t believe anything you read, the silly season has started where every player is being linked with almost every club.'

There's silly, and then there's Cardiff City silly. This however is one of the most believable! It goes downhill from here!
