Cardiff Player Of Year: Poll Result

After the topsy-turvy rollercoaster of momentous highs and sickening lows, we invited readers to vote for their choice for player of the year.

The choice offered was wide but several players dominated the voting:

In THIRD place: Neil Alexander 14%

The popular goalkeeper is leaving after 6 years at Cardiff City and many are sorry to see him depart. The Scot produced his best form this season and pulled off some truly world class saves, as well as looking more solid defensively and commanding his area better than in previous years. A new contract could not be agreed and he is sad to be leaving.

In SECOND place: Michael Chopra 23%

The prolific striker lead the scoring charts all season for Cardiff and ended with an impressive 22 goals in his first season with the club. Intelligent runs and numerous assists have made him a Ninian Park hero and for once the comparisons with Earnshaw are true and many believe he will surpas Earnie's achievements. A top quality season from the bargain buy of the Championship.

In FIRST place, Player Of The Season: Roger Johnson 30%

Roger only recently joined, and was forced to sit out much of the season on the bench. A towering defender who is also assured on the floor, Johnson has grown in stature and confidence and looks a fanstastic prospect. His calm and effective performances stood out as others around him limped towards the season's end. Roger contributed 2 headed goals and played in just over half the games this season following a move from Wycombe Wanderers. A hugley impressive first season.

Other players worthy of note were Glenn Loovens and Kevin McNaughton who both gained 10% of the votes to make up the top 5.

A poll is now open inviting readers to vote for their Young Player Of The Season!
